Draft the Perfect Cover Letter

I know the task of creating a cover letter can seem a little daunting but here are some tips to help you with this optional but necessary document to get your foot in the door of your dream job.

Your cover letter should always include an introduction of yourself, brief overview of your experience in the industry you are apply for, the skills you will bring to the company, why you interested in this company and position you are applying to, 3-4 key points and examples from your resume that highlight key accomplishments in your career, and a thank you for their consideration as well as your contact information so they can reach out to you because WE KNOW THEY WILL, sis!

Your cover letter should never be more than one page and should contain about 2-4 paragraphs. We aren’t trying to put them to sleep this is just an intro of you and your bomb skills.

If you are switching industries please make sure to address that in your cover letter and tell your story about what led you to this point. Make sure to highlight all your transferable skills as well.

Please be sure to reach out to the hiring manager once you submit your cover letter and resume. It shows your drive and passion for the position and makes you standout in a sea full of applicants. A great way to reach out is via LinkedIn so make sure that profile is A1!

Last tip I have is to include your cover letter directly into the body of your email if applicable. This eliminates clicks for the hiring manager and puts your skills right in their face. Make sure to personalize the cover letter as much as possible though if sending via email.

Now that you have these tips I trust that you can craft the cover letter to land you your dream position. Feel free to comment, email, or DM me any questions and if you get stuck you can always purchase a revamp and I’ll be sure to get you noticed!
