The Great Escape: Hawaii
Last week I had the pleasure of flying to Honolulu, Hawaii for “work”. Work is in quotations because it definitely didn’t feel like it. As you may or may not know, I work as a Senior Software Implementation Consultant for car dealerships which is a long way of saying I am a software and IT trainer. The dealership had great people who caught on immediately which caused for a relaxing week able to enjoy the island of Oahu and all it had to offer. I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Waikiki Beach which has to be by far the nicest and biggest Hilton Garden Inn I have ever stayed in for work. It isn’t directly beach facing but it is a short walk being one street over from the beach. Waikiki reminded me of a watered-down version of South Beach being very busy and full of shopping and bars.
Oh, the shopping!!! They had everything from Forever 21 to Chanel right in the center of Waikiki Beach. The Ala Moana Shopping Plaza was beyond amazing as well having a Sephora, Zara, and H&M.
Food was amazing if you like Hawaiian food and are not afraid to try new things. I had a Poke’ bowl for the first time which was raw Ahi Tuna with a spicy mayo dressing, sushi rice, and soy sauce. B O M B I am addicted to Acai bowls and a grocery story by the name of Down to Earth had the best Acai bowl I have ever had in my life. Duke’s is located on Waikiki Beach and was very packed but had a nice menu.
On the last day my coworker and I drove up to Tantalus Lookout which look over the whole island of Oahu. It was the best part of my trip since I got the most beautiful pictures. It was so serene up there as the hustle and bustle of Honolulu was taking place below. We also went to Playbar Waikiki for drinks. They had a great DJ that played hip-hop, drink specials, and free before 10pm. Once you get a wristband you can come and go as you please. It wasn’t the fanciest place, but it was good to let loose and dance after work with a couple of drinks.
Overall, Honolulu is not relaxing vacay vibes, but it is Hawaii and was a beautiful sight to behold! I would go back. Comment below for any suggestions if you plan to visit.
Mahalo!
